Social Anxiety (SAD)

Recent tests with patients who experience social phobias demonstrate that CBD has natural anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) effects. The CBD compounds attach to the CB1 receptors, and the agonistic reaction indirectly activates the serotonin receptors of the stria terminalis which regulates the body’s natural relief of stress and tension. Further cases have recorded the ability of CBD to reduce aggressive responses to fearful stimuli and prove to be essential for promoting anti-anxiety effects within social phobias.

The test consisted of 24 patients in which 12 received a 600 mg capsule of CBD while the other half took a placebo an hour and a half before participating in a simulated public speaking test. While the CBD group displayed favorable results from the conclusion, the placebo group showcased increased levels of alert, discomfort, and anxiety. Another key observation researchers noted was an abolishment of negative self-evaluation from the group that took the CBD.

Case Developments

A recent clinical test from Neuropsychopharmacology concluded that CBD considerably reduced cognitive impairment, discomfort in speech performance, and anxiety of 12 patients living with SAD and had never received treatment; the trial also proved a notably decreased alert in the patient's anticipatory speech.
